About LizzyLoo Designs

Our Story

LizzyLoo Designs started out as a way for designer and owner Debbie Frost of Salem, MA to connect with her new-born nieces in Texas. Since it's humble beginnings in a kitchen, LizzyLoo Designs has grown, and the unique batik line now has a storefront in Marblehead, MA as well as wholesales in over 20 stores in the New England Area.

We believe that kids clothing should be fun, colorful, comfortable, easy to clean, and more importantly, made with love. Each LizzyLoo Designs' item is made by hand in our studio, making each T-shirt, One-Piece, Romper, Dress, etc, a unique, one-of-a-kind piece!

What Is Batik?

Batik is an ancient wax-resist dyeing technique that has existed since the 4th century BC.  This art form is most often associated with the island of Java, Indonesia, but is also a very prevalent art form today in the Caribbean.

Hot wax is applied to white, natural fiber fabrics. The wax then cools, and begins to crack. Fabric is then dyed, and the wax resists the dye, remaining white. The fabric is dried, and then wax is reapplied and the fabric dyed again. The final step is to remove the wax, usually by placing the fabric in boiling water. Left behind it a fun, colorful design!
